At South West Swing we teach the prominent and unforgettable dances from the 1920s through to the 1940s, the Lindy Hop and it’s predecessor, the Charleston. We also share and immerse ourselves in the music of the wonderful Jazz Era that goes with it. Our classes run in Cowaramup and and cater for all levels and abilities, from never danced before to those who have been doing it forever. They are suitable for those 16 years and older.
At South West Swing – Margaret River we aim to hold regular one day Beginner Workshops. These beginner workshops are aimed at individuals with no dance experience and will introduce you to the dance that is Lindy Hop. Our experienced teachers will teach you the basic footwork, including both 6 and 8 count steps, as well as, the core fundamentals that will get you feeling comfortable on the dancefloor.
The one day Beginner Workshops will consist of two 1.5 hour classes with a half an hour break in the middle.
Students are not required to bring a dancing partner to the workshop. Lindy Hop is a social dance and students will rotate partners throughout the class.
At the conclusion of the workshop, students who are feeling comfortable can transition to our regular drop in Beginner Plus/Intermediate classes held on Wednesdays from 6:30pm – 8pm at the Cowaramup District Club.
Our next Beginner Workshop is to be confirmed.
