Frequently asked questions
Do I need a partner?
Nope! No partners are needed. Lindy Hop is by nature a social dance. During class we change partners frequently.
I have never danced before, can I still join in?
We have taught a huge range of students with varying abilities - from those in their 60s who've never danced, to young people straight out of high school, to those who've danced but completely different styles. We tailor classes to the students and provide 1:1 support and direction throughout class. All ages 16+ are welcome.
How much does it cost?
Classes are $15 each - our monthly social Back Bar Stomp is $10. Other special events and workshops vary depending on the complexity of the event.
Do teach regular classes anywhere else?
Unfortunately, we don't currently have the capacity to teach regular additional classes at the same rate as our weekly Cowaramup classes in any other locations. We are a 100% volunteer run organisation with limited resources to run more locations at this time.
If you're travelling in for classes, many of our students travel from around the South West and there is an abundance of carpooling options, both south and north of classes. Even our teachers travel from Dunsborough, Busselton, and Witchcliffe.
What should I bring to class?
A water bottle, a comfortable closed-toed pair shoes, and a learning mindset.
Do I need to pre-register for classes?
Nope! Simply rocking up on the day is fine. If you would like to pre-register for a discounted pass, please contact us.
Can I buy a gift voucher or class pass?
You sure can! Contact us for more information on buying a gift voucher or class pass for someone else (or yourself!).
South West Swing acknowledges the traditional custodians of the land on which we meet and dance, the Wardandi people. We pay our respects to elders past, present, and emerging, and extend that respect to all Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
